An Air Handling Unit (AHU) is a large insulated metal enclosure housing a blower, heating/cooling coils, filters, sound attenuators, and dampers. Typically connected to ductwork, it distributes conditioned air throughout the facility and returns it to the AHU for reconditioning.

In some applications, AHUs can also discharge supply air and admit return air directly to and from the serviced space without ductwork.
